FILM REVIEW: THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED

Prepare yourselves for ‘The Transporter Refueled’, the reboot of the franchise that kick-started Jason Statham’s hard man career. This time, however, Ed Skrein of ‘Games of Thrones’ fame sits rather comfortably in the driver’s seat posing as the professional freelance courier driver for hire.

The plot of ‘The Transporter Refueled’ is simple. In the south of France, former special-ops mercenary Frank Martin is coerced into a deadly game of revenge by a femme-fatale and her three sidekicks who are looking to get their own back on an evil Russian crime boss.

Those of you who liked the Jason Statham films and the highly underrated Chris Vance television series, will enjoy this high-octane thrill ride that gives the English-language French film franchise a fitting revision.

Fans of this action thriller franchise will be aware that for features generated on a relatively low budget (of around $20), with its fast cars, beautiful women and exotic locales, the money is certainly up there on the screen. A further two instalments are still to be expected.

On its theatrical run, this little gem seemed to been swept under the carpet by much bigger action blockbusters such as ‘Spectre.’ On the whole, this is a great way to pass an evening with mates, especially if you liked this year’s ‘Hitman: Agent 47.’

‘The Transporter Refueled’ is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 28.
